Experience Highlights

A four-hour exploration by bike of central Bogotá, during which we'll visit the historical center, La Candelaria, a traditional fruit market, a coffee factory, street art, and hopefully a game of tejo, Colombia's national sport. We'll also pass by landmarks such as city parks, the Plaza de Toros, Museo Nacional, and experience the economic and arquitectural diversity of different neighborhoods. Part-way through the tour, we'll stop in the Parque Nacional to sample fruit salads, juices, barbacued meats, corn-on-the-cob and other traditional Colombian street foods. The route, of about 12 kilometers, is mostly flat, and the tour is casual, with frequent stops.

Step by Step

Group bike tours begin at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every day (private tours can start at any time). This four-hour

exploration of central Bogota starts out with a visit to the historical center, including passing by colonial

churches and the Botero and Gold museums, as well as a visit to the nation's main square, Plaza Bolivar.

From there, we'll ride north to a fruit market and taste from Colombia's huge variety of exotic, tropical fruits,

and then walk across the street for a game of tejo, Colombia's national sport.

After that, we'll ride up Carrera Septima, past Independence Park, the Bullfighting Stadium, the National Museum

and through the La Merced neighborhood, which feels like a bit of London with its English architecture. From there,

we enter the National Park to try fruit salads, juices, corn-on-the-cob and grilled meats.

Our stomachs filled, we ride west through the quiet and elegant Teusaquillo neighborhood to Calle 26, where we'll

admire some of Bogota's largest street murals. After photographing a sculpture by Colombia Fernando Botero, we ride

past the Memorial Center, dedicated to documenting human rights violations, and stop in a small coffee roaster.

Here, we see how Colombia's world-famous arabica beans are selected and roasted for export. Then we'll enjoy a

fresh brew of those delectable beans.

Finally, we'll ride back to our starting point in La Candelaria, finishing off with one of the few uphills on this

mostly-flat ride. The whole route covers about 12 kms.

Such a good way to explore different areas of the city including local markets, the national park, local coffee roastery, Tejo and much more. Our guide, Mariana, was very friendly and knowledgeable about Colombia’s history and different areas, would highly recommend riding with her. And great value for money! Thank you!!!

We were able to see a lot of Bogota in a few hours and our tour guides Luis Carlos and Jason made it a really fun and enjoyable experience. The fruits we had at the market were really delicious!

Together with our guide Daniel we started downtown with a fascinating first explanation about the role of graffiti in Bogotá (including a painful anecdote about Justin Bieber). We continued our way through the Ciclovia trails (on Sundays large parts of the city are made car-free!). Wonderful to see cyclists, joggers and walkers take over the otherwise busy thoroughfares. Past an odd English quarter to Teusaquillo, a surprisingly airy middle-class area so close to the centre. Stops at an urban coffee roastery, famous murals and a fruit market in a street lined with Cevicherias. Daniel spoke passionately about all kinds of fun facts of  his city, such as the division of neighbourhoods into 6 classes paying no, little or a lot of taxes. He also did not shy away from political discussions, neither from the drama of the (still) bad (unjustified?) reputation of his country. We had a truly fantastic experience and are impressed by Bogotá as a pleasant city crawling upright from its troubled past. Bien hecho Daniel!
