To go on the trip to Morocco, you will need to reserve at least one full day of your itinerary. Most companies offering this experience specify that the trip takes between 12 and 15 hours, varying slightly depending on each company's itinerary and the specific activities planned for once you arrive in Tangier.

This is a day trip and a long journey, so you should expect to be back in the city at around midnight, usually between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. For this reason, I recommend this experience only to travellers who are spending several days in the city, such as 4 days in Seville or more, and who are keen to discover the northern part of Morocco.

When it comes to visiting Morocco, any of its cities, an organised excursion is totally worth the investment! Especially if it's your first time visiting a Moroccan city. Although Tangier is a very touristy city and you won't have any trouble communicating, especially if you speak basic English, the truth is that having someone who knows their way around is highly valued.

Additionally, if you intend to visit Morocco from Seville in one day, having someone accompany you will allow you to keep an organised itinerary, avoid setbacks and enjoy the experience even more. Finally, if you consider the cost of doing the trip on your own, you will see that the difference in price is not that significant, at least when compared to a group tour.

Tips for a trip to Morocco

A trip to Morocco from Seville will be one of the most fun and interesting experiences you can have when you finally visit southern Spain. However, there are several things you should take into consideration to make your trip more enjoyable. Here is a list of the most important ones.

Visa to visit Morocco

Morocco is a country that requires visas for many foreign countries; this is especially important if you are travelling from outside the European Union. I recommend that you check the list of countries that do not require a visa to enter Morocco. If your country is not on this list, then you must obtain a visa in order to go on this trip.

Book your trip in advance.

Although most companies in Seville that organise this type of excursion allow you to book or cancel up to 24 hours before the date of the experience, bear in mind that they always have limited places available.

The best way to ensure availability on the exact date of your trip and to plan your excursion properly is to book several weeks before your arrival in Seville.

If you are going shopping in Morocco, the currency is important.

The official currency of Morocco is the Moroccan dirham, although it is true that in Tangier most tourist-oriented shops accept euros, it would be a good idea to take some dirhams with you.

Generally, tour operators can help you with currency exchange, so you can let your guide know on the day of the tour.

Wear appropriate footwear and clothing

Try to dress as comfortably as possible for your trip to Tangier; the city's climate is dry and hot during the summer, while the winter is quite humid.

During the hot months, protection from the sun is essential, with breathable clothing made from materials such as linen and cotton being the most recommended, as well as closed footwear. Bring hats and sunglasses, and be sure to apply sunscreen several times throughout the day.

Bring water

Pack your travel bag and don't forget to include a bottle of water. It is hot most of the time in Tangier, and organised excursions from Seville also involve many hours of travel, so it is best to stay well hydrated. Although you will be able to buy water, it is always a good idea to have some to hand, especially if you are visiting Seville with children and they are accompanying you on this adventure.
