Step by Step
Nottingham is a city of contrasts, rich in history and architecture. This guided tour offers a unique insight into the city through the designs of renowned Victorian architect Watson Fothergill, whose influence has left its mark on many buildings in the city centre.
The tour starts in front of the Nottingham Tourist Centre, next to the main Market Square. During the approximately 2-hour tour, you will walk through historic streets such as Market Square, Lace Market and Castle Quarter, stopping to admire and learn about the history behind some of Nottingham's most unique structures.
One of the highlights is the original Fothergill's headquarters, a visually stunning building full of ornate detail. You'll also pass BOX Nottingham, an old building converted into a sports bar, and Fothergills, another of its designs, which now serves as a pub and restaurant, where you can finish the experience with a local beer (consumption not included).
Your guide will provide historical information, quirky anecdotes and cultural context that you won't find in any written guidebook. This tour is ideal for visitors and locals alike who want to rediscover their city from a new perspective.
