Step by Step

Hop on a trolley and explore Boston' s ghoulish side on this tour of ghosts and tombstones. The tour lasts approximately two hours, and for groups of about 20 people, you'll learn about many stories that are both fascinating and spooky. The tram driver will act as your guide, narrating live the history of the places you pass through.

Get ready for an evening of fun, scares and ghost stories. During this experience you'll step off the tram to visit two of Boston' s oldest cemeteries :

  • Copp's Hill Burying Ground: located on a hill where a windmill once stood, Copp's Hill was Boston's largest colonial burying ground, dating back to 1659. Some of the notable people buried here include preachers Cotton and Increase Mather, two Puritan ministers closely associated with the Salem witchcraft trials, and the founder of black Freemasonry, Prince Hall.
  • Granary Burying Ground: Boston's third oldest cemetery, founded in 1660. It is the resting place of many notable patriots of the Revolutionary War era, including Paul Revere, the five victims of the Boston Massacre and three signers of the Declaration of Independence: Samuel Adams, John Hancock and Robert Treat Paine.

In addition to the tour of the cemeteries, the guide will tell you the story of the characters who made a name for themselves in the city, and even across the United States, for the terror of their lives.

You will learn the story of the Boston Strangler, killer of 13 women in the Boston area in the early 1960s. Or the story of Jolly Jane, a nurse and serial killer who killed at least 31 and possibly 100 people because it gave her an erotic thrill.
