AQWA The Aquarium of Western Australia Tickets

The AQWA is Perth's aquarium and Australia's largest. Its large tanks house hundreds of marine species, from large sharks to the most venomous jellyfish. Just buy a ticket and you can enjoy an activity that's perfect for young and old alike. During your walk through the aquarium, you can ask the ocean guides for information.

AQWA reproduces the Australian marine habitat and its main regions. Highlights include:

• Perth - The coastline and surrounding area is an ideal habitat for octopus, lobsters and fish such as the Southern Blue Devil.
• Far North - The most tropical part of the country, where mangroves abound and crocodiles hide underwater.
• Shipwreck Coast - The home of sharks and rays. The tank is huge and also includes a tunnel to see the marine species up close.
• Great Southern - The southern part of Australia is affected by cold currents from Antarctica and is inhabited by curious animals, such as the Pineapple Fish. This is a fish with a real shell and luminescent bacteria on the sides of its mouth.
• Danger Zone - The tank dedicated to the country's deadliest animals, vertebrate or otherwise. The Portuguese Carabela and Box Jellyfish deserve a special mention.
• Turtle Rescue Pool - The environment dedicated to the recovery of turtles, which are collected from the ocean, cared for and released back into the wild. But first they spend some time at the AQWA.

The aquarium is located in Hillarys Boat Harbor, a marina north of Perth. To get there, you can opt for public transport (bus + commuter train on the Joondalup Railway Line) or a car/taxi (91 Southside Drive, Hillarys 6025).
