Step by Step

This air-conditioned bus tour lasts approximately 3 .5 hours and includes optional pick-up from your hotel in downtown Montreal. Upon booking, you will be asked for the name of the hotel you are staying at to confirm the pick-up. Once on the tour, an expert English and French speaking guide (you can choose your language when booking) will explain the history of the Canadian city and its main attractions. The bus will pass, among others, the following points:

  • Vieux-Port - A sheltered area on the course of the St. Lawrence River. Here you will find the big Ferris wheel and the science museum.
  • Basilique Notre-Dame - Built in the early 19th century in neo-gothic style, it is remarkable for the beauty of its interior, especially the blue painted ceiling.
  • Parc Olympique - The area built for the 1976 Olympic Games. Among the most famous buildings, it is impossible not to mention the Montreal Tower (the tallest leaning tower in the world), the Botanical Garden and the Olympic Stadium.
  • Parc du Mont Royal - This huge green area was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed New York's Central Park. Inside is the Oratoire Saint-Joseph, a large basilica with Art Deco interiors.
  • Marché Bonsecours - Once the main farmers' market, it is now a luxury shopping centre. From the outside, it is recognisable by its large dome.
  • Place Jacques-Cartier - Known for its many bars and restaurants, as well as Nelson's Column, dedicated to the Admiral of the Battle of Trafalgar.
  • Place Ville-Marie - Modern square and epicentre of Montreal's cultural life. The former headquarters of the Royal Bank of Canada hosts a 360º panoramic view point.
  • Chinatown - The district that encompasses the Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese communities. The entrance has a distinctive red gate decorated with ideograms.

If your hotel is not included in the pick-up area - or if you fancy a stroll - you can meet the group at a central location in Montreal. The address is given at the time of booking. Although there is not a lot of walking involved, we recommend you wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

The tour was quite good, it gave us an overview of Montreal and we learned a bit about its history and culture. We would have liked the duration to be longer, we were really enjoying the tour.

The visit to the Basilica of Notre Dame was something really incredible, one of the best of the tour without a doubt. It was a much more complete experience than I expected. Highly recommended.
