Step by Step

Palazzo Moroni is a must for anyone exploring the Upper Town of Bergamo. This 17th century noble residence has been in the hands of the same family since 1636 and is today owned by the FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano, in charge of preserving its original splendour.

From the entrance through its inner courtyard, the tour guides you through a monumental staircase decorated with stuccoes by Gian Giacomo Barbello, which leads you to the noble salons. Here you can admire ceilings covered with baroque frescoes, inlaid furniture, decorative ceramics and unique pieces such as the mosaic consoles from Villa Adriana.

One of the highlights is the Moroni Collection, home to the famous portrait "The Gentleman in Pink" (1560), a masterpiece by Giovanni Battista Moroni. This collection allows a journey back in time through the artistic sensibility of several generations.

The visit is completed by a stroll through the Italian-style gardens, considered the largest in the city. Terraces, fountains, flowers and paths lead you to the "Pensatoio del Conte", a small tower in neo-medieval style that offers a romantic view of the surroundings.
