More about: Best Things To Do In Cannes In June

Cannes is a beautiful city surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. This makes it a must-see destination while visiting the French Riviera. Although the city is mainly known for its Film Festival, there are many other events and activities you can do during your trip.

Among the best things to do in Cannes you can enjoy the beaches, take a boat trip for swimming or snorkeling, taste fresh seasonal products in a gastronomic tour, tour the city by electric bike and much more. Here are the activities that I consider essential.

1. Take a boat ride on the Bay of Cannes

With the arrival of the pleasant June temperatures in Cannes, the situation is propitious to book a boat trip and do different water activities.

The Bay of Cannes has wonderful land and marine landscapes that you can discover if you choose to dive into the sea for snorkeling.

For this, you will have the advice of an instructor who will tell you everything you need to know before starting the activity. If in addition to this experience you want to do other similar activities, then choose one of the best boat tours from Cannes.

June marks the transition to summer in Cannes, so it's an ideal opportunity to take a tour of the city in nicer weather.

But I propose something a little different to make your experience much more fun: book a segway tour of Cannes.

You can visit with a small group of people points of interest such as the famous Palais des Festivals et des Congres, the village Le Suquet, Rue d'Antibes and the avenue La Croisette.

Information of interest

  • Price: from 53€ per person.
  • Duration: about 2 hours.
  • Advantages: you will be accompanied by a local guide, who will tell you little-known stories about the city and the places you visit.

Since June 3rd every year is International Bike Day, a perfect way to celebrate it is to book a tour of Cannes on an electric bike.

This is an ideal excursion if you want to visit Cannes in 2 days where you will contribute to the environment while getting to know the most emblematic spaces of Cannes such as:

  • La Croisette boulevard
  • The old port
  • Le Suquet district
  • The waterfront area

4. Taste the fresh products

In June, Cannes is full of new harvests of fruits and vegetables and fresh and seasonal products. To taste them, I recommend you to book a gastronomic tour of Cannes, as it is the perfect way to know the best places and best dishes.

But there is always the option to go on your own. And for that here are some of the best areas to try the best.

Rue Meynadier

It is one of the oldest streets of the city that brings together several restaurants offering various recipes of local cuisine. Among the options you can visit are La Cuisine d'Aqui, La Perle Restaurant and La Farigoule.

The popular market

The Provençal market of Forville is located just 6 minutes away from the previous destination. Here you will find a wide variety of products grown in the region, full of freshness and authentic flavor.

Also, if you wish, you can buy fresh fish caught every day by local fishermen.

The Le Suquet district

Your gastronomic experience in Cannes will not be complete without a visit to the Le Suquet district. This area is full of diverse food stalls and restaurants that, added to the view from the hill, are an ideal destination to stimulate your senses.

You can visit restaurants such as L'endroit cannes, Happen Bar Cannes Cocktails & Tapas and L'enoteca.

5. Take an excursion to Monaco

Monaco is a special country, as it is the second smallest in the world. Many people think that it is part of France, but it is not, as it is independent. But best of all, it is only a 1 hour drive from Cannes, making it a perfect excursion on your visit to the French city.

No problem if you don't have a car, as you can book an excursion to Monaco from Cannes and go in an organized group accompanied by a professional guide.

Want to experience the luxury and glamour on the shores of the Mediterranean? And see with your own eyes the famous Grand Casino of Monte Carlo? Then you can not miss this getaway in one of the best times to do it because of the good weather.

6. Escape by ferry to Saint Tropez

Saint Tropez is one of the most beautiful cities of the French Riviera and, like Monaco, also breathes luxury and glamor, as for years it was the destination of the international upper class.

Despite its ostentatiousness, in Saint Tropez you can still feel its fishing and humble essence, specifically in the neighborhood of La Ponche. If it has caught your attention, I also recommend that you take advantage of the good weather in June to book your ticket for the ferry to and from Saint Tropez.

For 15 minutes you will sail along the beautiful coast with incredible views of the French Riviera and, upon arrival, you will have 5 hours completely free for Saint Tropez and then return to Cannes by ferry. You really can't miss it. For me it is a perfect experience.

In mid-June, Cannes is dressed in creativity with the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Whether you are interested in the creative world or just curious, you can be present at the activities organized as part of the Festival by registering for workshops related to creativity, marketing, leadership, sustainability and many other issues of great importance in today's world.

You can also participate as an audience and vote for the most creative ads that have managed to communicate their message in an original way. Another way to participate in the event is to simply submit your idea or initiative.

Information of interest

  • Venue: the festival events are generally held at the Cannes Congress and the Palais des Festivals.
  • Duration: approximately one week.

Whether you plan to stay 3 days in Cannes or more during June, you should take advantage of the warm temperatures of this month and venture to spend a different day at some of the beaches that make up the French Riviera such as:

  • La Plage Macé: just a 9-minute walk from the center. It offers fine sand that is not uncomfortable to walk on.
  • La Croisette Beach Cannes: close to La Croisette promenade, it is easily accessible. It offers a calm surf and is located 2 minutes from Plage Macé.
  • Carlton Beach: very close to the center and you can observe the Bay of Cannes in all its splendor and enjoy the sun on a sun lounger.

If you're traveling to Cannes with your family in June, you can take advantage of the good weather and sunny days this month by playing Finding Fairy Tales, an outdoor mobile game.

It consists of walking the streets of the city discovering clues, performing tasks and delving into stories inspired by the tales of the Brothers Grimm, a unique opportunity to interact with the environment.

As you discover the riddles, finding hidden tales that were never published and performing other tasks, you will accumulate points that will lead you to be the winner. The idea is that you visit about 15 places in the delimited space.

Interesting information

  • Price: the price of this activity is approximately 12€ for groups of up to six people.
  • Duration: a range of 1 hour and a half to 3 hours.
  • Advantages: you will experience fun family moments discovering unpublished fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm.

10. Take a photo tour of Cannes

Take advantage of the change of seasons to summer to capture the peculiar colors, light, panoramic views and perspectives that the city offers during the days of June.

Just grab your camera and head out into the city to capture beautiful images. Among the options to take pictures, these are my favorites:

  • The Palais des Festivals: it is where the Cannes Film Festival is held and you will have as scenery the red carpet and the stairs where countless artists have paraded.
  • The Old Port: you can take pictures at different times of the day and take advantage of the natural daylight to capture the yachts, the blue sky and the contrast between the sand and the sea, or during the night hours to obtain orange tones.
  • The Henry Peter BroughamMonument: surrounded by palm trees and picturesque facades, which provide a beautiful setting.

11. Take a stroll through the Vieux Port of Cannes

June is the ideal time to visit the Vieux Port de Cannes, because thanks to the arrival of the summer solstice you will enjoy warm weather and an incredible view of the sea.

You can walk along the quay at your own pace, while you feel the sea breeze caressing your face. This picturesque port, built during the 50's and managed by Igy Marinas, is one of the emblematic places of the city.

Snoop around the luxurious yachts and fishing boats on site and climb up to the terraces of the restaurants and bars lining the quayside for incredible sunset views.

12. See the temporary exhibitions at the Musée de la Castre

The Castre Museum is a historic building dating from the 17th and 19th centuries, where you'll find primitive art displays and colorful panoramas from the structure's square tower.

As you walk through this museum, you'll see various objects and items typical of the Mediterranean in ethnology and archaeology collections. One of the most interesting attractions is the display of various musical instruments from different parts of the world.

On the other hand, if you want to get an exceptional view and the best pictures of the Bay of Cannes, you must climb up the square tower a total of 109 steps. Also, don't forget to see the collection of paintings from the Orient and the collections of primitive art from the Himalayas.

It was quite a fun and enjoyable experience, although the weather was perhaps not the most suitable for diving. We still managed to enjoy the excursion very much and had a very relaxed time on the boat.
