Step by Step
If you want to learn about the history of Florence, one of the most artistic cities in Europe, this is your chance. Accompanied by a professional guide, you will learn how the powerful and influential Medici family, the most important lineage of patrons in Europe, made the Italian city what it is today.
In groups of around 30 people, your guide will accompany you on this two-hour tour of the historic centre of Florence. He will also explain the history of this city through the Medici and how this family influenced the monumental construction of the city.
Some of the monuments you will be able to see from the outside are the Cathedral of Santa Maria di Fiore, considered one of the masterpieces of the Gothic and early Renaissance, as well as the Baptistery of St. John and the dome of the cathedral. These three monuments are Unesco World Heritage Sites and are among the most visited in the world.
In addition, during the tour you will pass by the Palazzo Vecchio, which is located in Piazza della Signoria and is now the city's town hall. It is worth mentioning that it has rooms open to the public as a museum to admire works of the Florentine school, from the 14th to the 15th century, by artists such as Vasari or Bronzino.
Another of the most important points you will see on this tour is the exterior of the Uffizi Gallery, a spectacular building located in the heart of Florence. It houses works by some of the world's most renowned artists, such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael.
