Experience Highlights

Combine sightseeing with gastronomy and live a luxury experience in a small group tour of about 12 people. The tour is led by a local English-speaking guide, lasts approximately 3.5 hours and departs from Piazza Farnese. Also, if you go with your family, children under 2 years old are free of charge.

Try typical Italian dishes such as pasta and gelato. There are also some local favourites such as fried artichokes.

There are two time options for this gastronomic tour, with some slight differences in the itinerary:

  • Daytime option: It usually starts in Piazza Farnese and includes a visit to the Camp de' Fiori market, where you will be briefed on the most important ingredients of Italian food. Please note: there is no market visit on Sundays.
  • Afternoon option: The starting point is the same, but instead of visiting the market, you will visit some of the shops in the area.

In both cases, the tour will pass through such emblematic places as Via dei Baullari, Antico Forno Roscioli (the oldest bakery in the city), the old Jewish ghetto of the city and the Trastevere neighbourhood.

What’s included

  • Small group of about 12 people
  • Tastings of traditional Italian food, including ice cream
  • Water.
  • 3 quality wine tastings in different venues

Step by Step

Enjoy a gastronomic tour of Rome for about 3.5 hours. Visit landmarks such as the Trastevere neighbourhood, Campo de' Fiori square and the Jewish ghetto. You will also taste classic dishes such as pasta, pizza and Italian wine.

The tour will be conducted in small groups of about 12 people, so your guide can give you more personal attention.

The tour usually passes through the following places, always with the explanations of the expert guide:

  • Campo dei Fiori: if you choose the daytime option, you will get to know the market that is set up there. Otherwise, you will be able to visit the food shops in the area.
  • Trastevere: the busiest neighbourhood during the nights in Rome. Its streets are full of restaurants, discos and shops.
  • Via Portico d'Ottavia: you will have the opportunity to taste fried specialities. Pizza lovers will love the stop at the oldest bakery in the capital, renowned for its delicious Roman pizzas.
  • Jewish Ghetto: Pope Paul IV created this neighbourhood in 1555 in order to isolate the Jewish people. Almost 3,000 Jews lived here in overcrowded conditions. On your walk through this area you will see the Templo Maggiore, the oldest synagogue in Rome.
  • Tiber Island: a small island of 270 metres located in the Tiber River. To get to this islet, you will pass by the Fabricius Bridge, built in 62 BC, being the oldest bridge of the time and originally preserved.

A good dessert is a must on this gourmet route. An artisan ice cream parlour awaits you with its exquisite natural ice creams. On the menu you'll find pistachio, orange, strawberry, melon, almond and many other flavours.

I knew Campo de' Fiori was an exceptional market with a great reputation, but having the opportunity to go and shop was fantastic.
