Located in the heart of Venice, built in 1792 in neoclassical style, the La Fenice opera house was a private auditorium where theatrical and operatic performances were held, but it was also a meeting place for Venice's cultural elite.
The famous theatre, although destroyed by fire in 1863, rose from the ashes. Hence the name "La Fenice". Phoenix in Italian, a very appropriate nickname for this icon that has risen twice from the ashes and has been in operation since 2003.
Now restored to its 18th century glory, the famous opera house boasts an impressive interior that is well worth seeing. In groups of around 20 people you will explore the interior of this opera house consisting of five galleries.
Marvel at the luxuriously elegant baroque décor, the royal box and detailed wooden balconies. Throughout your visit with a local guide, you will hear stories of legendary musicians and singers who passed through the walls of the auditorium.
With seating for over a thousand people, La Fenice boasts excellent acoustics, accommodating an orchestra of 98 musicians and a chorus of 66. This important creative space, which hosts more than a hundred operas every year, has been the venue for the premiere of masterpieces by composers such as Rossini, Verdi, Bellini and Donizetti .
