Step by Step
The southern region of Mauritius is characterised by its breathtaking scenery, with rolling green hills, cliffs, white sandy beaches and lush valleys. With this tour, you can explore it in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with Wi-Fi and an expert guide. The tour lasts between 5 and 8 hours and includes the following stages:
- Trou aux Cerfs - A dormant volcanic crater. It is believed to have been formed by a volcanic eruption some 700,000 years ago. It has a diameter of about 350 metres and a depth of about 85 metres. Inside, it is covered by lush vegetation, creating a fascinating landscape.
- Grand Bassin - One of the most important spiritual sites on the island. According to Hindu tradition, it is a sacred lake because it is believed to have been filled with water from the Ganges, symbolically brought to Mauritius by early Indian immigrants. Consequently, the lake is called Ganga Talao, which means "lake of the Ganges" in Hindi.
- Alexandra Falls - Nestled in a beautiful tropical forest, which offers breathtaking scenery and a sense of tranquillity and connection with nature. If conditions permit, it is possible to take a refreshing dip in the water.
The tour includes a stop at the Black River Gorge viewpoint. From here there is a breathtaking view of the Black River Gorge, a deep valley covered in lush rainforest.
