Step by Step

Get to know one of the most beautiful water towns in the Netherlands on this tour to Giethoorn and the Afsluitdijk dike, two must-see sites for tourists.

Your tour will start from Amsterdam, by air-conditioned bus. You will arrive in Giethoorn and have the opportunity to explore it at your own pace, accompanied by a professional guide who will give you the most impressive facts about the place.

Known as the 'Venice of Holland', the town is a dreamlike landscape, where thatched-roof houses are framed like a work of art with green pastures, cattle farms, cheese factories and beautiful bridges overlooking the water as the main feature.

You can relax with breathtaking views and take a boat trip along the canals surrounding Giethoorn, taste the famous local cheeses and some delicacies of the Dutch gastronomy (lunch not included).

You will visit the Afsluitdijk lock dyke, a maritime engineering marvel built to connect the northern part of the Netherlands with the Wadden Sea. You will discover the importance of this work along its 32 km length.

Erected 7 metres above sea level, the dyke has two locks that allow boats to sail through the sea and at the same time allow water to flow through.

As an optional experience, at the end of this half-day trip you can also take a cruise along Amsterdam' s canals, lasting about an hour, for an additional cost.
