Step by Step

Enjoy a three-hour private tour of the Nowa Huta district led by a local guide in a classic car.

You will get an in-depth look at the neighbourhood that was built on the orders of the former communist government of Poland. Did you know that Pope John Paul II celebrated his first mass here on his first visit to his native Poland as Pope? That was in 1979. Some time earlier, when he was Archbishop of Kraków, he also celebrated Christmas Eve mass here despite a ban by the communist government.

You will visit the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre, located in the heart of the neighbourhood, which hosts numerous artistic and cultural exhibitions: photography exhibitions, dance performances, theatrical performances, workshops, etc.

You can also visit the Fundacja Promocji Nowej Huty, the administrative buildings linked to the Lenin Steelworks built in the Nowa Huta neighbourhood. In fact, this area was originally a place of residence for the workers of this factory, which you can now visit. This is a fantastic opportunity to delve into post-war history.

You will also be able to see the interior and exterior of the Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland, an imposing building with a modern air, which represents the struggle and resistance of the Polish people against the communist government.
