Some of the main places you will visit during the tour, in Braga and Guimaraes, are the following:
- Bom Jesus Funicular: it is a transport system in Braga that takes its inhabitants from the base of the hill to the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary. Inaugurated in 1882, it is one of the oldest funiculars in the world and has a length of 116 metres and an inclination of 42%.
- Se de Braga: built in Romanesque style in the 12th century, it is considered one of the oldest cathedrals in the country . The building has an impressive façade with twin towers and a rose window, while the interior features the Chapel of the Kings, the main altar and the sacristy, which houses an important collection of sacred art.
- Guimaraes Castle: a medieval fortification dating back to the 10th century. It was built to defend the city against Norman and Saracen attacks. Nowadays, it is one of the main tourist attractions of Guimaraes and houses a museum that tells the history of Portugal.
- Church of San Miguel do Castelo: dates back to the 13th century and was built on the ruins of an ancient Romanesque chapel. It is known for its beautiful stained glass windows and for being the site of the marriage of the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, in the 12th century.
- Historic centre of Guimarães: it is an area of great historical value that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001 . It is characterised by its narrow cobbled streets, colourful traditional houses and numerous historical monuments. It is an ideal place to enjoy Portuguese architecture, culture and gastronomy.
