You'll also admire Le Monument de la Renaissance Africaine and soak up the local atmosphere at the lively Soumbedioune Market, where you'll have the opportunity to explore a variety of authentic products.
Afterwards, you will head to the island of Gorée. This island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known for its past as a slave trading centre. During your visit to the island, you will have the opportunity to see the House of Slaves, a museum that tells the story of slavery in Senegal. Here you will learn about the harsh conditions in which slaves lived and how the slave trade was conducted in colonial times.
