Step by Step
Let yourself be dazzled by the magic and charm of Cuenca with this three-and-a-half hour tour, in which each of the stops will delight everyone who takes part. You will also be able to visit the Cathedral of Santa María and San Julián.
An expert guide will lead the itinerary through some of the most emblematic places in the city. You'll discover the Plaza Mayor and Cuenca Castle, among others. Also the San Pablo Bridge. This is a vertiginous iron footbridge that crosses the gorge of the Huécar River. From here you can enjoy one of the best views of the Hanging Houses of Cuenca, the emblem of the city.
These constructions are a clear example of the popular architecture of the town of Cuenca, and contributed enormously to the city's designation as a World Heritage Site in 1996. They also house the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art, founded by the prestigious painter Fernando Zóbel, and classified by the founder of the MOMA in New York as "the most beautiful small museum in the world".
For its part, the Cathedral of Santa María y San Julián, whose entrance is included as part of this tour, is the fifth largest temple in Spain. Nicknamed the "Cathedral of Light", it is considered the "laboratory" of Gothic architecture in Spain. Its stained glass windows, its chapels, its history, and its spectacular views from the triforium or from the viewpoints of its cloister towards the Huécar gorge, make this an essential guided visit.
