Step by Step
This activity lasts approximately 2 hours and is aimed at people who want to learn how to ride the waves. You will learn the art of surfing from an experienced instructor who will explain the basics of this discipline. It takes place in small groups on the beach of Famara, on the northwest coast of Lanzarote.
This small coastal town is the perfect place to take your first steps on the board. The mild temperatures and constant wind have made Famara the most popular destination for surfers from all over Europe. Moreover, you can comfortably enter the ocean from the long sandy beach and wait for the waves at the most suitable spots for beginners, which will be indicated by the instructor. Normally, students are concentrated in the areas of El Barco, El Cagao (for the more daring) or El Molino.
Lanzarote has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by Unesco. It has a subtropical climate and the best waves hit the island in winter and autumn. However, for those who want to learn, any time is the right time! Before jumping into the water, it is advisable to apply sun protection and, perhaps, to wear booties to improve your grip and avoid cutting your feet.
