Step by Step
Discover the originality and charms of Menorcan viticulture on this visit to a winery on the island. This activity offers learning and a delicious experience in which you will be able to taste up to 3 varieties of local wine, plus 1 vermouth. The wine tasting will be accompanied by an assortment of cheeses and cured meats.
The duration of the visit will be around 1 hour. The aim of this activity is for you to learn a little more about the vineyards of Menorca, the history of wine production in this region and the interpretation given by the winegrowers to their own product. Sustainability is an important aspect of Menorcan wine culture, due in part to the fact that the island is a World Biosphere Reserve.
The variety of Menorcan wines is wide, but without a doubt the Merlot and Cabernet reds stand out. Their cherry colours and red fruit aromas give this type of wine a balance and sweetness that are highly appreciated by locals and tourists alike. On the other hand, among the whites we could highlight the chardonnay and malvasia. The freshness and intensity of their floral and vegetable aromas are also highly valued.
In Minorca, quality and improvement of wine production is constantly sought after, and they do so by introducing new native varieties: Protected Geographical Indication "Vid de la Terra Illa de Menorca" , for example, which happens to be the region where the most wine is produced on the whole island.
