How to Get to Burj Khalifa
Dubai is an exciting place surrounded by towering skyscrapers where there is much to see. But among them all stands out the Burj Khalifa. Here's how to get there
In the heart of Downtown Dubai (at 1 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd) is located the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, the tallest building in the world with more than 800 meters high, and one of the most important tourist attractions in the city.
It is very well connected by public transport and getting there is quite easy. However, if it is the first time you travel, you may not know all the options you have at your fingertips. There are quite a few, so take note, because in this post I tell you how to get to Burj Khalifa.
Go to the Burj Khalifa by taking a walk from Downtown Dubai and enjoy the way
Take advantage of the fact that you are strolling around Downtown Dubai to see the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The cheapest way to move around the city center and get to this skyscraper is walking because, apart from not costing you a dirham, during the tour you will have the opportunity to enjoy this unique desert landscape surrounded by skyscrapers.
If you love walking and you are not in a hurry, I recommend walking to go from one tourist attraction to another. For example, if you are in Downtown Dubai and you have just seen the huge Dubai Mall, the next stop on your route can be to go up to the observatory of the Burj Khalifa and then go to the Dubai Fountain, which is located within walking distance of the legendary skyscraper.
Getting to the Burj Khalifa walking is my favorite option because you will do it without realizing it and on the way you will have the opportunity to see several of the emblems of the city exploring new routes. Something that when we are sightseeing is always a marvel. So do not hesitate and go into the streets of downtown Dubai to investigate the Downtown on foot and go up to the viewpoint of the Burj Khalifa. In the post Burj Khalifa observation deck ticket prices you can find out in detail how much the tickets cost.
Walking distances from popular sites in the city
- Dubai Mall: it will take you 4 minutes to go from this popular shopping mall.
- Dubai Fountain: it will take you about 6 minutes to walk from here.
- Dubai Opera House: it will take you about 24 minutes to go to the Burj Khalifa from this place.

Take the metro to get to the Burj Khalifa, the fastest option
If you are not in Downtown and do not feel like walking under the hot Dubai sun to enjoy the spectacular views from the 124th and 148th floors of the observatories of the Burj Khalifa, I recommend using the metro to move around Dubai as it connects the most important places in the city quickly.
The Dubai metro consists of only two lines and the one you have to take to go to the famous skyscraper is the red one. This line is the most used by tourists because it links some of the most important stops in the city such as the Burj Khalifa, the Ibn Battuta Mall, the Dubai Mall or the International Airport.
To get to the Burj Khalifa by metro you will have to get off at the station of the same name, which is the closest to the Dubai Mall and from there walk a few minutes to the skyscraper.

Another good option to get to the Burj Khalifa is to take the bus, specifically the F13 line and get off at the Dubai Mall stop. In a few minutes walk you will soon reach the entrance of the skyscraper.
In recent years the fleet of buses in Dubai has been modernized and has become one of the most modern transport in the city, so many tourists use it along with the metro to move around Dubai. In fact, all bus stops are combined with the metro, so it is very easy to plan a trip combining both means of transport.

Consider going to the Burj Khalifa by cab, a comfortable alternative
Cab is also another good option to get to the Burj Khalifa as it is quite affordable (compared to other cities) and there are many of them spread around the city.

Travel to the Burj Khalifa by tourist bus and enjoy the experience twice as much
If you have purchased a ticket for the tourist bus in Dubai do not rule out using it to move to the Burj Khalifa, one of the main plans to see in Dubai, is a fantastic alternative!
In addition to showing you the main tourist attractions of the city, the tourist buses in Dubai also allow you to use the vehicles as a means of transport to move from one place to another.
