Step by Step

Discover some wonderful floral displays with these tickets to the grounds of Waddesdon Manor in Aylesbury, a small town in central England. This country house was built for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the late 19th century and is now owned by the English National Trust. The Parterre or the aviary are the two elements that will surprise you the most when you enter these grounds of more than 48 hectares.

These gardens are an integral part of the estate and were designed by the French landscape architect Elie Lainé. Most striking is the Parterre, a formal garden designed in a symmetrical pattern with paths, trimmed hedges and colourful plants.

You will also find the so-called rose garden. It has more than 1,200 roses of various colours and fragrances. It is like an oasis in which there is also the Water Garden, a pond with a series of water features. You will also see different sculptures and other decorative elements, such as urns and statues.

Another of the features in these grounds is the aviary, which was restored in the 19th century and contains a collection of exotic birds.
