Step by Step
Travel back in time to the old Wild West on this tour from Lake Tahoe to Virginia City, Nevada. You'll start the day in a comfortable minibus, following part of the trail of the famous Pony Express, an old horse-drawn mail route in use in the United States during the 1860s. You will then board the Virginia and Truckee Railroad for a ride of about 11 km in total.
The duration of the activity will be about 7 hours in total, during which you will be able to contemplate the picturesque landscapes of the area. You will be accompanied at all times by an expert guide, with whom you will be able to discover many interesting facts about the history of the railway and its expansion into the western United States.
One of the main destinations on the tour is Virginia City, a mining town founded in 1859 whose development was closely linked to the gold and silver rush. The gold and silver rush attracted thousands of fortune seekers and made the city one of the largest and most prosperous settlements in the region at the time.
Today, Virginia City remains largely a historic city. Once there, you'll have free time to explore on your own. Stroll along the cobblestone streets and visit the many historic buildings, shops, restaurants and museums that offer a fascinating insight into its mining past and life in the Wild West.
The tour will end at the original starting point, as it is a round trip. Sign up for this activity and enjoy the chance to discover more about the Wild West in a comfortable and entertaining way.
