Step by Step
Enjoy a 70-minute tour of the Laura Plantation, one of the most renowned sugar plantations near the banks of the Mississippi River, located about an hour from New Orleans.
The tour of the plantation will be led by a local guide who will take you through the 7,000 square metre former owners' mansion, the dwelling where their slaves lived for centuries, the sugar fields and the arduous gardens.
You will also discover all the history that each of its corners holds, from the collected memories of the fourth generation of the family headed by Laura Locoul and from the records that were discovered by the French National Archives.
You will learn about the influence that Louisiana had for more than 200 years on the Creole culture of the State and the country.
At the end of the tour you can independently explore the other plantations along the Great River Road. This activity does not include transfers to and from the plantation.
