The Edge NYC Opening Times
An important thing to keep in mind if you are going to visit the Edge Observatory, is the opening hours and duration of the visit. I give you all the information you need to help you make the most of your time there.
The breathtaking observation deck at The Edge is one of the highlights New York City has to offer, so if you're planning to visit, organizing your itinerary around its hours is key.
You probably have a thousand activities planned and keeping in mind the opening hours of the points of interest you are going to visit will help you enjoy your trip to the fullest.
1. Timetables to visit The Edge
The Edge observatory, located in the trendy Hudson Yards neighborhood, is open to the public 365 days a year, without exception. But hours vary depending on the influx of visitors. There are days and weeks considered "high season", which you should be aware of if you purchase your ticket through the official website.
- Regular opening hours in low season: from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
- Extended opening hours in high season: from 8:00 a.m. to 00:00 a.m.
2. How long is the Edge tour?
To give you an idea, an average tour can take about 45 minutes to an hour.
Anyway, the visit to the observation deck does not have a fixed time stipulated. Once you enter the building, you can stay as long as you like, taking pictures, having a coffee, or simply observing the magnificent views.
Of course, it is important to respect the time you have chosen and for which you have purchased your ticket. There is no waiting room if you arrive early and they do not guarantee admission if you arrive outside your schedule. My recommendation is to go in advance, take a walk through Hudson Yards calmly and avoid any kind of mishap that could jeopardize this vertigo experience.
3. I want to see the sunset from the observation deck, what time should I go?
The sunset changes a lot throughout the year, given the extreme weather that New York City has in both winter and summer. So it is advisable that you investigate it at the time of getting your ticket. In winter it can set between 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm and in summer between 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm. But it is very variable.
On the official website, they will also tell you the estimated sunset time depending on the day. And if you decide to buy your ticket this way, keep in mind that you will be charged about 9 € extra to see the sunset. (You can check more information about prices here: The Edge ticket prices.
I also recommend that you arrive at least an hour before the time you want to see the sunset, as it is usually a very busy time and the tour usually takes longer.
4. Champagne bar hours at the top of The Edge
If in addition to visiting The Edge you want to treat yourself to a cocktail or a soft drink at the terrace-bar of its spectacular observatory, the opening hours of the terrace are the same as those of the lookout itself.
However, due to weather conditions, the outdoor terrace may be closed at certain times of the day.
- Regular opening hours in low season: from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
- Extended opening hours in high season: from 8:00 to 00:00 hours.
5. Schedules of nearby attractions to keep in mind
Visiting The Edge, as we have already seen, is also a great excuse to tour the area. But what are the opening hours of the attractions that I will find next to The Edge?
- Hudson Yards Mall and Shops hours: 10 AM - 21 PM
