Step by Step

This tour lasts around 5 hours and will allow you to explore Kailua Bay. When you book, you can choose a guided or unguided tour , depending on your kayaking experience. The fee also includes the use of showers and lockers, lunch and drinks, which are essential to stay hydrated.

This part of Hawaii is famous among scuba divers and water sports enthusiasts, as it is home to some particularly beautiful spots:

  • Mokulua Islands: two "twin" islands covered in lush vegetation. They are the remnants of an ancient volcano and are home to endemic birds such as the 'Ua'u kani (Pacific shearwater) and 'Ou (Bulwer's petrel).
  • Popoiʻa Island (Flat Island): The name means 'rotten fish' in the local language and refers to the offerings left at an ancient shrine in the centre of the island, which no longer exists. According to folklore, they were used to attract good luck in fishing. It is completely flat and easily accessible from the coast.
  • Lanikai Beach: one of the most beautiful beaches of the archipelago. Thanks to the constant winds and its coral reef, it is a favourite destination for photographers, scuba divers and, of course, kayaking enthusiasts.

During the day it is possible to see sea turtles, long-snouted acrobats (a species of dolphin typical of tropical waters), Mo'o (the Hawaiian lizard) and dozens of other species.

We had a great time! We had a fantastic guide, she knew all about the local history, plants and animals, and we were able to see several sea turtles and a monk seal!

The most enjoyable activity we did on Oahu. My mom was nervous about this activity, but it was her favorite too.
