More about: Page Tours

Page is a hidden gem in the United States, located between Utah and Arizona. It is noted for its warm climate, surrounded by striking rock formations. There are many attractions you can take advantage of, such as spending the night near Lake Powell, attending a Native American show and tasting local dishes. You can also tour the trails by ATV or jeep.

If you want to take advantage of the best things to do in Page, I recommend starting with Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. Also, don't miss the opportunity to take at least a day trip to Las Vegas. The city also offers photo tours and extreme activities such as rafting, canyoneering and hiking.

1. Enjoy a tour of Antelope Canyon in Page

Antelope Canyon is a dream destination, highly sought after in Page. Its beauty is unparalleled, with perfect erosion lines. People visit it attracted by its shapes, colors and beams of light, but you must keep in mind that this geological wonder can only be visited with a Navajo guide. In addition, it is essential to respect the rules and not enter with prohibited objects such as backpacks and photography equipment.

The canyon is divided into two parts, the upper section is the most accessible with wide, low-intensity trails. This is where the light beams are appreciated, between 11:00 and 14:00. Unfortunately it is only open from March to October, for safety reasons. On the other hand, the lower section is for experienced adventurers, as its paths are narrow and its stairs very steep. It is usually less crowded, which allows you to appreciate the change of colors. To visit Antelope Canyon I recommend wearing comfortable sneakers, as you will be walking for quite a while.

Details of interest

  • Price: from 57 euros per person.
  • Duration: approximately 1 hour and a half.
  • Means of transport: public transport in Page is a bit deficient, especially to get to the booths where the tour is booked. For convenience I recommend taking a cab for about 12 euros, hiring private transfers or booking a tour that covers the service.
  • Advantages of this option: you can explore both sections, or book separate tours. It all depends on your physical capacity and itinerary.
  • Disadvantages of this option: it is not recommended for pregnant women or people with severe health problems.

In Arizona you can discover the Horseshoe Bend, a wonder located in the mountains. It is a must-see and one of the best things to do in Page. The best way to take a look at this meander, is aboard a helicopter, as it has a depth of 300 meters. However, here you can also hike or navigate the dam while kayaking or adrenaline rafting.

If you choose to fly over it by helicopter, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the horseshoe. You may even fly over Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell, as they are on the same route. Usually, this type of tour ends at Tower Butte, a summit famous for the scenery that can be seen from the heights. In fact, from here you can see the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

Details of interest

  • Price: from 262 euros per person.
  • Duration: about 40 minutes.
  • Means of transport: it is best to move by cab, your service provider will tell you if the transfer is included, or in any case will set a meeting point. In the booking details you can find all the information you need to organize your trip.
  • Advantages of this option: it is a private activity, as it is generally intended for small groups of at least 6 people. In addition, you will be able to learn about the history of the Navajo people.

The Native American show is a must-see cultural activity in Page. Usually held at the Red Heritage Theater, it features authentic dances, demonstrations of Navajo culture, singing, local stories and drum shows. Without a doubt, it is one of the best entertainment options if you want to explore the historical background of Page.

It is an unforgettable experience, where the flashy costumes and Navajo rituals will keep you waiting for the next surprise. I recommend booking in advance, as this is a highly sought-after tour. You can sample traditional foods such as fry bread, craft beer, crispy cheese, Navajo tacos and more. There are usually options for specific diets, such as vegetarian dishes, but you should inform your service provider.

Details of interest

  • Price: from 65 euros per person.
  • Duration: between 2 and 3 hours.
  • Means of transport: you usually have to get to the show on your own, although you can also ask in advance if there is a transfer option included. From the city center you can walk there in ten minutes, although considering the arid and sunny climate, it is preferable to take a cab.
  • Advantages of this option: it usually includes a meal, which accompanies the native show.
  • Disadvantages of this option: it usually does not include tips. In the United States they are not obligatory, however it is frowned upon not to leave something for the waiters.

Canyoning in East Zion is the best way to challenge your body to new adventures. You can rappel down the slot canyon, as well as travel in an ATV through the local mountains. This location is between Utah and Arizona, with beautiful rock formations that I suggest you explore in detail.

Specifically, the activity takes place in Zion National Park, one of the most sought-after canyoneering areas in the world. Keep in mind that canyoneering is an extreme attraction that combines rappelling, hiking and climbing. Of course, it is necessary to have a certain physical capacity. You can also walk along its unique red rocks, while you stay safely tied to the harness. Although, if you don't want to get so far away from the city, you can also enjoy a canyoning route through the Antelope Canyon.

The best way to discover the secrets of Arizona' s cuisine is to take a culinary tour of Page. You must try some of the typical dishes in the area's restaurants. For example, the iconic Big John's Texas BBQ, known for its delicious barbecue. Another great place to stop for lunch is Strombolli's, an Italian food place near Lake Powell.

Definitely a must-try in the area:

  • Fried bread: it is a traditional appetizer, which has been prepared in the region since 1864. Its history is very interesting, since it was the only food the Navajos had when they were displaced from New Mexico. It is a dough based on flour, water, salt and yeast, which is accompanied by beans, meat, cheese, among other local delicacies.
  • Chimichanga: a kind of fried burrito, which is served with cream or guacamole.
  • Queso crujiente: a kind of tortilla, which combines Italian, Mexican and North American food.

Details of interest

  • Price: from 10 euros per person. There are few options for guided tours, but in Page there are few restaurants so you can tour them on your own.

If you keep going, you can reach the Horseshoe Bend, one of the best things about Page. Additionally, this experience includes a rafting tour, full of adrenaline. Lake Powell is a river beauty, ideal for cooling off in the Arizona desert. It crosses most of the city, and even extends to Utah. A curious fact is that it is an artificial lake, created to supply the residents of the area. Here you can rent a kayak, enjoy a paddleboarding experience or dive into its crystalline waters.

Get away from the hectic routine to enjoy the calm of this lake surrounded by beautiful canyons. Without a doubt, this visit is one of the best things to do in Page. The beauty of Page makes it a photographable destination. Mostly, people chase the best angles of its canyons, lakes and mountains. In fact, if you want to visit the Antelope Canyon, you should know that photographic tours are offered accompanied by a Navajo guide specialized in postcard sessions.

There are also night photo tours, which are a bit more expensive. Keep in mind that in high season it is difficult to find this type of tours, since the city is crowded. Therefore, the guides prefer not to offer them, so as not to saturate the most touristic enclaves. If you take the tour through the Curva de la Herradura, you will be guaranteed dreamlike photographs.

Some of the best things to do in Las Vegas include:
