Step by Step
With this cooking class in Hoi An, you will get to know the Vietnamese food culture and learn how to prepare some traditional dishes. The 4-hour activity includes the company of a local guide, selection of products at the market, a bamboo boat ride, crab fishing and a 2-hour cooking class guided by a chef. Transfer from the centre of Hoi An is also included for convenience.
You will start the activity with a visit to Hoi An market, where you will get to know and select the fresh ingredients you will cook in the class. You will learn how to identify and choose quality products, while discovering new flavours and typical foods of the region.
After the market visit you will board a bamboo boat, typical of the region. On the boat you will sail to the fishing spot, where you will be able to catch your own crab. This will be one of the main ingredients you will use in the cooking class.
After catching the crab you will go to a restaurant, where you will meet a professional chef who will guide you in the preparation of some traditional Vietnamese dishes. You will learn about cutting techniques, marinating and cooking times, as well as the combination of flavours and spices typical of Vietnamese cuisine.
