Step by Step

Explore Estancia Cristina and Lake Argentino with this tour from El Calafate. A bus will pick you up to take you to the starting point of the tour, about 60 kilometres by road, to board the tour boat on Lake Argentino. This is an experience that lasts around eleven hours for small groups where a professional guide will accompany you during this full day.

You will embark on a cruise on Lake Argentino, the largest freshwater lake in Argentina with a surface area of 1,415 square kilometres and a maximum depth of 500 metres, making it one of the deepest in the world. It is fed by several glaciers, such as the Upsala, the Spegazzini and the famous Perito Moreno.

You will arrive at Estancia Cristina, a historic ranch in the Patagonian region that offers a glimpse of traditional life in these types of places, as well as spectacular views of the mountains and glaciers. There you can learn about its history and that of the region in the museum to which you will have access.

With this booking you can also choose between two options:

  • 4x4 tour: this is an off-road adventure in a 4x4 vehicle along an alpine trail to get as close as possible to the Upsala Glacier, a breathtaking place.
  • Waterfall tour: you will go through forests and along the Caterina river with your guide to reach the pristine waters of Los Perros waterfall.

It is worth mentioning that you will be transferred to and from the hotel, so you won't have to worry about transport or breakfast, as it is included on board the boat.

We chose the hike to the waterfall and it was the best decision. It's fascinating all that nature has and we don't find out until we do this. I would do it a thousand times again, it was beautiful.

The boat trip through the icebergs was exciting and the sailing itself was amazing. First time seeing them and so far I am still amazed.
