Step by Step
This tuk tuk tour goes through the historic centre of Lyon, stopping in front of the most famous attractions and monuments. It is a private activity, involving just you and your group, and includes an expert driver/guide. When booking, you can choose between three options: 1 hour, 2 hours or 3 hours.
You will travel in a bicycle-taxi style tuk tuk, also known as a rickshaw or pedicab. This is a three-wheeled, pedal-powered vehicle. Passengers sit in the back and are protected by a canopy. The vehicle will wait for you at a central location or, in the case of the longer options, pick you up directly from your hotel. The route includes the following stops:
- Place Bellecour - The largest pedestrian square in Europe. It houses two statues, the first is dedicated to Louis XIV, the Sun King, while the second pays tribute to a famous writer from Lyon: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
- Theatre des Celestins - One of the oldest in France. It stands on a site that once housed a Templar garrison.
- Cathedral Saint-Jean-Baptiste - Located in the heart of the old town, it is characterised by a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic architecture.
- Traboules - Covered passageways through buildings and courtyards. They played a key role during the silk weavers' revolt in the 19th century.
- Place des Terreaux - Home to the Town Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts. Here you will find a fountain symbolising France and its four major rivers. It is the work of Frédéric Bartholdi, the same sculptor of the Statue of Liberty.
- Fresque des Lyonnais - The façade of the entire building was decorated with a gigantic mural depicting the 30 most famous people of the city.
- Place des Jacobins - It is circular in shape and ornamented with a beautiful fountain in the centre. The square is classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Thanks to the tuk tuk screen, the tour can be done in any season. This tour is especially suitable if you don't feel like walking.
