On this tour you will have the opportunity, for about 7 hours, to visit the cities of Pompeii and Sorrento. You will be accompanied by an expert guide, from whom you will learn many interesting facts about the history and architecture of both cities.
You will visit Pompeii, the largest and best preserved archaeological site in Europe. The city, known for being destroyed after the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, was buried under the ashes of the volcano, which has allowed its preservation. Strolling through the streets of Pompeii, you will have the opportunity to see a perfectly preserved 1st century city .
Some of the main places to visit in the city include the following:
- The Forum: This was the main place of commerce and civic life in the city. It was where trades were promoted, edicts were published and goods were sold.
- The Lupanar: This was the largest brothel in the city. Inside, erotic paintings can still be seen on the walls.
- Thermal baths: Thermal baths were very popular and important in Ancient Rome, as they were a place for bathing and social gatherings. There are many thermal complexes in Pompeii. The oldest of them dates back to the 4th century BC.
You will have free time to enjoy a lunch of traditional Italian food, shopping, and sightseeing on your own. Afterwards, you will continue to the town of Sorrento, famous for its stone streets and majestic views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius .
