When you purchase your ticket to Oslo's Kon-Tiki museum you will gain access to an impressive collection of artefacts and exhibits that will take you back to the glorious past of one of the country's most iconic characters.

You'll be transported back to the time when Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl sailed across the Pacific Ocean on a wooden raft called the Kon-Tiki. You will discover how he and his team managed to sail more than 8,000 km across the sea without using an engine or modern technology.

At the entrance, you will be greeted by a replica of the Kon-Tiki raft, which will give you an idea of the feat Heyerdahl achieved. You will then enter the museum's main exhibition, where the original artefacts used on the voyages are on display, as well as photographs and documents illustrating the whole story. You will also see the Ra II raft, which Heyerdahl used to sail the Atlantic.

In addition to the legendary expeditions, in other rooms you will learn about the life and culture of the Pacific islands and the ruins of Túcume in Peru, where Heyerdahl carried out incredible excavations.

You can also watch a film about Kon-Tiki's great voyage, which is shown in the museum's theatre every day and is one of the most comprehensive ways to learn about the amazing story of the exploit.

A very beautiful museum both inside and out and with incredible exhibits. While I expected to find something totally different, I leave happy and I think it was worth visiting this place. Recommended to go once.
