Step by Step
This bike tour of Taipei allows you to see its monuments and points of interest. You will meet a local guide at a central location and, after breakfast, he will take you to discover the city for about 4 hours. The itinerary usually passes through the following points:
- Shuanglian Market: the food stalls have traditional recipes.
- Monument to the Father of the Fatherland Sun Yat-sen: it pays homage to one of the greatest personalities of Chinese history in the 20th century. It is surrounded by a park and the Cui Pond with its water lilies and willows.
- Presidential Palace: distinguished by its 60-metre high central tower and red brick walls.
- Ximending: a lively district, known for its numerous shops, graffiti and free live shows.
- Bopiliao: a historic district which preserves traditional houses and shops from the Qing era, the last dynasty to rule China before the establishment of the Republic.
The route could also take in the Xia-hai Temple. Despite its small size, it is one of the oldest and most visited temples in the city. Inside, the City God, who helps the government to rule righteously and acts as a link between the living and the dead, is worshipped.
