Take this Speyside whisky tour from Inverness to learn more about the spirit. It's an experience where a local guide will teach you about the history and process of this popular drink on a small-group tour lasting around nine and a half hours. You will have the opportunity to visit distilleries and the Speyside Cooperage, as well as making stops at landmarks in the town of Elgin.

The distilleries you will be able to visit and where you will be able to do a whisky tasting for an additional cost are:

  • Benromach: Established in 1898,Benromach is one of the oldest distilleries in the Speyside region of Scotland. It is known for its range of handcrafted malt whiskies, made using traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients, as it is made from water from a nearby spring.
  • Glenfiddich: Founded in 1886 by William Grant,Glenfiddich is one of the world's most respected whisky brands. It produces a range of malt whiskies, known for their smooth, rich flavour and complex aroma. Their spirits are aged in oak casks for a minimum of three years.

Also on this tour you will visit the Speyside Cooperage in Craigellachie. Founded in 1947, it produces and repairs oak casks for the whisky industry, using traditional methods and tools that have remained virtually unchanged for centuries.

At these distilleries you will have the option of a whisky tasting, but at an additional cost as this is not included in the booking. You'll also stop in the town of Elgin, where you'll have free time for lunch and a visit to its famous cathedral on your own.
