Step by Step

This tour is perfect for nature and outdoor enthusiasts. The itinerary combines a kayak tour with a hiking trail, both in the pristine wilderness of the Caines Head State Recreation Area. Before you set sail, an expert guide will explain the itinerary and you'll warm up with warm-up exercises. The tour lasts approximately 8 hours and includes a kayak and all necessary equipment (paddle, life jacket, pump and paddle float).

The tour allows you to admire the ghost forest, devastated by the earthquake that struck Alaska in 1964. The salinity of the water wiped out the trees and many coastal villages. With a bit of luck it is possible to spot eagles, salmon, sea lions, brown bears and orcas.

After a kayak ride you'll arrive at Fort McGilvray, a military fortification overlooking Resurrection Bay. During World War II, it was believed that this spot in Alaska would be the perfect place for a possible Japanese invasion. For this reason, construction of coastal batteries, lighthouses and barracks began in 1941. It was a strategically important site, as the waters remained ice-free all year round.

After admiring this military relic, the tour continues with an ascent to the top of Caines Head. The view from the top is breathtaking. Hiking shoes and sportswear are recommended.

We had a unique, very exciting and beautiful day. I had never seen orcas in their natural habitat and it was totally beautiful. The crew was very helpful.

We saw a family of orcas right next to us and the feeling was so magical...I am thankful I came with my boyfriend as we had an unforgettable time.

I had done this before but never in such a professional and safe way as this. The team was excellent and we were able to see the orcas up close.
