Explore the city of Milan at your own pace with this private tour. Accompanied by a professional guide, you will be guided on this activity that lasts around ninety minutes. You will learn about the history and pass by some of the most beautiful spots in Italy, such as the Piazza di Duomo.
Milan, located in northern Italy, is the second most populous city in the country after Rome. It was a major political centre in antiquity and an important commercial and mercantile centre, becoming the capital of the Duchy of Milan, one of the major political, artistic and fashionable forces of the Renaissance.
But over time, it lost much of its political and cultural importance, but regained its status as a major economic and political centre, and is today considered the industrial and financial capital of Italy, as well as one of the fashion centres of the world.
During this walk you will witness all that history through its streets and buildings. Some of the points of interest you will pass by are:
- Piazza di Duomo: this is the historic centre and home to the famous cathedral, known as the Duomo of Milan, which tells a story of faith and art spanning more than six centuries.
- Teatro alla Scala: La Scala is a famous opera house, opened in Milan on 3 in 1778, where most of the great Italian opera artists and many of the world's best singers have performed.
- Castello Sforzesco: is a medieval fortification built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan. It was one of the largest citadels in Europe and today houses several of the city's museums and art collections.
Galleria Vittorio Manuelle II: it is the oldest active shopping arcade in Italy and one of the main monuments of Milan.
