Step by Step

This ticket gives you access to the world's largest museum dedicated to the history of the fire brigade. It is an attraction especially recommended for children, but also for fans of historic vehicles. It occupies a large area and is divided into galleries, such as:

  • Motorized Fire Apparatus: a magnificent collection of historic vehicles. They come mostly from the United States and include historic pieces such as the LaFrance Type 400 Senior (the most advanced fire engine of the time) and the District Model 45, an economical vehicle that was a great success. Another legendary piece is the Rescue 4, used in the 9/11 operations.
  • Fire Extinguishers: few museums can boast such a large number of fire extinguishers. The most curious instruments are those with wheels, mainly from Great Britain.
  • Fire Related Graphics: engravings, paintings, photographs and other works dedicated to the work of firefighters. The Moon Mullins collection contains more than 30 albums of photographs and newspaper articles about the fires in New York. It is the work of an enthusiast who lived in the Big Apple at the turn of the last century.

The museum is located at 6101 East Van Buren Street, very close to the zoo and the Phoenix Municipal Ballpark. If you don't have a rental car, you can take the Valley Metro Light Rail - Washington Street/Priest Drive stop - and walk for about 10 minutes.
